1965. A dreadful year with rain throughout the growing season.
1966. An average year that started out rather cold but by September the weather was warmer and no rain disturbed the harvest in October. Quality varies from property to property, generally speaking many coarse and slightly austere wines. Others are balanced.
1967. A rather bad and short lived vintage. Because of the low temperature the grapes just could not make it to full ripeness.
1968. A bad year with a lot of rain. Wines should have not survived to this day.
1969. A typically disappointing year when all started out good and with a warm weather only to be spoilt by a late September rain...
1970. A mixed vintage that gave a lot of headache and frustration to the growers. Weather patterns swung wildly throughout the season, as a result quality is not uniform. A good year for the Graves although probably passed it's best.
1971. A small crop of average wines that are Caberent dominated. A better year for the Graves than to the Medoc.
1972. A poor year that yielded wines with green vegetal notes thanks to the rain throughout the growing season.
1973. Another disappointing year when all stared out warm and good but the late rain put halt on aspirations for a fine year. Some elegant but very short lived wines were produced. Should not live by now.
1974. Just like the previous year, September rain destroyed all hopes. The well drained soils of the Graves and Pauillac escaped some of the detrimental effects of the year.
1975. Finally a hot year without much rain, though not great vintage as most wines are overly tannic and heavy, lacking finesse. Though there is considerable variation from estate to estate.
1976. A very frustrating year that started out scorching hot and ended up in September rains. As a result some wines are jammy and baked while others are thin and diluted, depending on when they started to pick the grapes.
1977. A miserable, cold year. Some medicore wines, surely past their best.
1978. Finally an overall good year that started out poor but the wet and cold weather all but disappeared by June. Some herbaceous wines especially from St Estephe but the best year in a decade or so.
1979. A relatively cool summer fortunately without much rain that gave way to a warm and rain free autumn. A good outcome regarding the quality of grapes. Good to excellent wines have been made in the Graves as well as in the Medoc, though they are overlooked when compared to the previous year.
1980. Abortive flowering during the spring resulted in a fairly small crop. The weather warmed up and continued to be good up until mid October when rain start to fall. Thus it is a mixed year with some excellent wines as well as some dilute ones.
