Lalande de Pomerol

With it's around 1.100 ha of land this is a bigger wine region than the 'big brother' Pomerol to it's immediate south. Merlot dominated as well, the concentration and finesse of these wines does not reach those of in Pomerol but these are still a good introduction to the real thing for the fraction of the price. The soil is gravel of varying depths mixed with some clay and sand.
