Entre deux Mers

A vast area between the two rivers Dordogne to the north and Garonne to the west. Although this is an area for dry white wine production - and thereof you will not see 'Entre deux Mers' on any claret label, red grapes are also planted here and the reds from this land are sold under the more generic designation 'Bordeaux'. Clay and sandy soil predominates here, and these red Bordeaux are made using a high proportion of Merlot, they are basic quality, light and are for very early drinking.

The Entre Deux Mers appellation is reserved for white wines.
